Gnarly Planetary Alignment by JayceCruel Gnarly Planetary Alignment by JayceCruel
I was playing with various gnarl parameters...nothing special. I had several layers that looked ok (a little plain, mayhap), but they wouldn't go together very well. I decided to make them into sphere shapes. My original idea (if I could have pulled it off) would have been to make some kind of "mirror" like background, with the spheres mirroring off each other and the background. But I'm not very good at that, so I backed out and opted for a generic space background (after which I added "atmospheres" to the newly designated "planets"). I thought it looked OK, but I can still see my original vision (with the mirrored background) when I look at it...

I'm also experimenting with using my own watermark, as opposed to the default DeviantArt watermark. This way, I can show off the images at their full resolution, as opposed to their limit of 1600 pixels. I really need people's opinions on this (not just the watermark, but mayhap the size of the image as well?), so please let me know what you think.

Thank you and N-JOY!

I like that you use one of my favorite words (mayhap)!
I lovee the composition and even your vision, as you've outlined it. Don't give up on honing your masking/mapping skills. It may take years, but boy will it feel good when you do create what you see in your mind!!
Watermark just happens to look like more "atmosphere" in this image!

I've been using "mayhap" since I was in high just sounds impressive and "distinguished" when I say it (mayhap I'm trying to start a trend?)

And thank you about your comments regarding what I had intended to do. I'm not entirely sure how I would even be able to pull something "mirrored" like that off in UF, or if it would even be possible. I would gather that I'd have to use a 3D ray-tracing program to do something like that, and I'm completely unfamiliar with 3D programs.

As for the watermark, I'm still working on it- this was the first of likely several experiments as I try to "get it just right"...I really like the fact that I can display the image in it's "full glory", as opposed to limited to 1600px wide. We'll see if I can do better with the next set of images I upload...
